Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Liner

As a bit of a liner addict, it’s very rare I’m without my cat-flicked lined eyes. Having only embraced the look in the past year or so thanks to sponge-tipped liquid liners I’ve struggled in the past with traditional liner brushes and have never given gel liners a second look, reasoning I wouldn’t be able to get on with the brush application. The only other gel liner I’ve tried is the ELF Studio gel liner and I hated it! It was thick, waxy and went on patchy. I do think liquid liner does require some training, everyone has their own technique and this time last year I wasn’t very confident and had inch-thick flicks that took me about an hour to do, using the ol’ dot to dot trick which is a popular method shown by make-up artists. Illamasqua’s Precision Ink has been my weapon of choice since it’s release, the soft sponge tipped applicator makes lining my eyes a breeze and literally takes a 2 second sweep, the only downside is the price (£17.00) and the fact with everyday use I get through them pretty quick. Whilst browsing my local Boots I came across the Maybelline stand and saw the offer for their new products, and the Eye Studio Lasting Drama liner called out to me, especially at the introductory price of £5.99. I thought it was high time I dipped my toes into the world of gel liner, especially as the product comes with a brush and claimed to last 24 hours.

I picked up Midnight Black but there is also Brown, Eggplant (purple) & Charcoal available.

Housed in a small glass screw-top jar like the infamous MAC Fluidline it feels and looks alot more expensive then it is. On dipping my brush into the pot I couldn’t believe how creamy it was, as it was so cheap I was expecting something more hard and waxy (like the ELF liners) but this feels like lip balm! I use the brush that comes with it, and absolutely love it. I used the fine tip for pressing the liner between my lashes, and the turn it flat for creating lines and flicks. The pigmentation is fantastic, a true jet black even with a light touch. It really does glide on in one sweep, and even in the rain it lasted a full day without smudging or cracking. My only gripe is I have to wash the brush before each use, as the product builds up on the bristles (even when wiped after use) and doesn’t pick up the gel as well.

For a liner brush noob like myself this product has turned me into a gel addict and I am going to pick up the other colours the next time I visit Boots. It is also safe for contact lens wearers and those for sensitive eyes, so if you’ve had issues in the past this could be one to try.

On offer at the moment in Boots & Superdrug for £5.99

    Cor that flick is fit.

I love the brush but not that crazy about the liner. It's not as pigmented as Mac blacktrack but I've only worn it once so I'll give it another go xx

That photo was the best of a bad bunch – you know how when you want to take pics of your makeup it always looks crappy =0/
I've never tried a MAC Fluidline but I'm really happy with this! 10x better then the ELF one! xxx

Wow this sounds great. I LOVE the Illamasqua precision inks too, I've tried a few sponge tip applicator liquid liners and it beats them all but I have no idea why! Your liner is bloody perfect in that last picture!

I wasn't so sure about this, I found that it transferred onto my brow bone and just didn't stay in one place, though the texture and included brush are really fantastic. An EXCELLENT and reasonably priced sponge tipped liner is the L'Oreal carbon gloss. A really fantastic black and SO easy to apply!

Ahhhh it's worked really well on me, maybe try setting it with a shadow?
I like the L'Oreal one but I found it didn't last very long =0/ x
