The oily girls guide to Summer skin

With the UK having been graciously hit with a delicious heatwave recently giving us all a taste of Summer I thought I’ld share my secret weapons on dealing with an oily complexion when the weather gets warmer.

1 – La Roche-Posey Effaclar K

The ultimate shine buster! I use this at night as I find it doesn’t give me enough moisture for the day and can make my foundation apply streaky but it really does it’s job of evening out my skintone and reducing pores and shine. I apply a light layer every night and my skin just gets better and better, combined with drinking more water then usual I have noticed a major difference in my skin since using this product and I can’t recommend it highly enough for us greasy gals!

2 – Clinique City Block Sheer SPF 25

I’ve raved about this product before, but it really helps keep my makeup in place all day and with it’s tinted formula it adds just a touch of coverage. SPF is so important, especially if you have fair skin. I don’t leave my house without this on. See my full review here.

3 – Clarins Skin Illusion SPF 10 foundation

With the recent bout of warm weather this foundation has been an absolute Godsend! I normally shy away from foundations that claim to be a second skin as I feel my skin needs a heavier base but this gem from Clarins offers coverage without the heaviness. It really does feel like my skin but better, all my imperfections are covered but my freckles still peek though and it doesn’t leave me feeling greasy or constantly reaching for the powder. I absolutely love it, I simply blend 1 pump all over my face and that’s enough to cover everything, I don’t even need concealer. It also smells incredible, and it’s so light it feels like my skin can breathe and I’m not clogging my pores. I’m share 103 Ivory FYI.

4 – MAC Blot powder

I have a love/hate relationship with this powder but teamed with the above foundation it’s been nothing but love. A light dusting is enough to set my face for the day and it’s also ideal for touch up as it never cakes, no matter how much you apply and the tone never oxidizes so you’re never left with an orange face! It is quite drying, as the name suggests and does a fab job of mopping up any excess oil. I tend to steer clear of this in the Winter months as it can make my nose dry but in the Summer it is perfect, and does exactly what it says on the tin. The shades run very light, ‘light’ is porcelain white and didn’t offer me any coverage at all as it was so light, but medium was perfect for my NW15/20 complexion.

Hope this short guide helps, please let me know your favourite products for Summer!
