What works for you… Chop & change skincare?

Hi dudes, just wanted to give you a lil update incase you’re wondering why I haven’t been posting as much as usual… Well, I’ve been promoted, woop! Some of you may know I work from home, and contrary to popular belief I don’t just sit on my arse all day on Facebook =). I have really got to knuckle down and I’m so busy at the moment it’s quite hard to hard time to churn out a decent blog post, as a majority of my new role is writing lol. I’m off to Gran Canaria (my boss lives there, booya!) on Wednesday until Monday so will hopefully pick up some goodies in the airport to blog about and I also want to do my Lush Colour Supplement review (I LOVE it) and a few more bits but I just wanted to let everyone know my posts will probobly be 1-2 a week rather from now on but I do still read everyones post on my blogger dashboard!

I’ve also noticed I’ve nearly hit 400 followers, OMG. I really can’t believe it, I’m so chuffed! When I do hit the magical 400 I will hold another giveaway, with the promotion comes a lil pay rise so the prize will be a nice and juicy, ha! I also want to make my page a lil more professional looking (what cha think of the new layout?), and also more interactive. I’m thinking of making a video but I sound like such a nob on camera =P. I’m really trying to reply to every single comment as I know alot of people find it quite rude when bloggers don’t reply to their questions!

Anyway! Onto my post…..

A lil while ago I posted about my skincare regime which consisted mostly of Estee Lauder, and as the weather was bitterly cold the rich cleansers really worked at that time of year. I’ve noticed alot of bloggers I follower chop and change their skincare regime quite often, through product testing, from developing a skin concern or purely being enticed by a new brand on the market. I find changing your skincare can be really beneficial as our skin has different needs at different times of the year. As you may know (since I’m constantly moaning about it) my skin is grease city! I’m always trying different things to combat the oil, but I must admit I’m a sucker for new products, I’m an advertisers dream lol. I know what works for me, Neutrogena 2-in-1 Wash/Mask is really, really good for oily skintypes. It makes my skin gleam, gets rid of all the grime and gives me a glow, its amazing. But like most, I’m never satisfied and am always trying new things.

My current routine has kepy my skin blemish free and even ever since I’ve started using it and I did a full review on one of the products, Lush CoalFace here. I’ve used CoalFace for a good 2 months or so now and my skin has honestly never looked better. When you first cut a chunk off the gritty texture makes your skin feel so clean, and it lathers up enough to make you ‘feel’ clean. I think there is nothing worse then a cleanser that doesn’t foam up, really not my cup of tea. I really cannot recommend CoalFace enough, if you have oily/problomatic skin please give it a try! The Lushies will happily gives you a decent sample so you can try before you buy, and it’s so reasonably priced a bar will last you ages!

In conjunction with CoalFace I have been using Lush Dark Angels and I find they work sooooo well together. I like to make quite a thick paste, and leave it on while I have a bath. It smells a bit funky, but boy does it WORK. My skin is deep down clean, mattified (but not tight!) and thoroughly exfoliated. I use it about 2-3 times a week before using CoalFace and my skin has never, ever looked better. I will be sticking with this combo for a good while yet! My only gripe is the packaging, as it’s in a tub (and the actual product can’t get wet) you have to scoop out a bit, put it on the lid and then wet your face and use it =0/. A bit of a drama but totally worth it!

Lush skincare has really impressed me, before I started blogging I was a bit meh about it all but I really can’t believe how good my skin looks since using the above products. I also had a sample of Fresh Farmacy and loved its more foamy texture, it feels like a bath melt rather then a soap! The product junkie in me will be purchasing it v.soon me thinks =D.

Now moisturisers, with oily skin you really can’t have anything rmeotely moisturising as it will just have you looking like you’ve dunked your big head in Vaseline =0/. I love my Estee Lauder Daywear Plus but I use it as night cream as it’s far too rich for the day, my make up slides off in under an hour, even if I use a teeny tiny bit. It’s really nourishing and makes my skin feel lovely but too rich unfortunately. I have dabbled in a few moisturisers recently, my current fave being Simple Oil Free Moisturiser but strangely I can’t seem to find it anywhere since my current tube has run out?! I think I got it from Poundland, or budget chemist Savers but I’ve been in both shops recently and can’t find it anywhere. If anyone finds it on their travels please let me know!

As I couldn’t get my hands on Simple, I picked up the Boots Botanics Sensitive Oil Free Moisturiser and it was love at first use! It’s a gel like forumla, and you can feel it matiffying as you smooth it over your skin and it also has a lovely faint tea tree scent. I looked at the Botanics range as everything was on 3 for 2 and I had heard so many good things about the eye makeup remover, which is a bit of a cult product in the blogging community. Unfortunately I didn’t pick it up, but I did get the Sensitive Cleaning Mousse and the Purifying Facial Scrub which are both just as fab and I will be packing them in my case for my trip =D. Back to the moisturiser, I’ve only been using it for a few weeks but I really like it and will definately repurchase if I can’t get my hands on Simple. It’s in a hygienic pump dispenser which I love, I hate putting my fingers in a jar and who can be bothered to use a spatula all the time? I love the way it feels, smells, holds up my oil and it also makes my skin feel soft! Fab fab fab, love it =D. Also very cheap at just £4.99 and one pump is enough for your whole face so the 30ml bottle will last a while!

Do you chop & change your skincare regime or are you loyal to a particular product/brand? Let me know!

haha, did I ever tell you what happened when I used Dark Angels?!

    • lol, no… do tell! x

ok so I'm sat in the bath scrubbing away with it and marvelling at how fabulous it felt. Rinsed. Then my husband came in the bathroom to ask me something and commented that he liked my beard. Oh I say, thats scub, I must have missed a bit. So I rinse again. He says, no it's still there. So I grab some dermalogica cleanser and have a good wash. no, still there, so then I grab my ultrabland and washed again. still there. 24 for hours I had to walk around with a beard stained on my face. I'm not the only person it happened to either!

Yeah, I chop and change a lot as I like to try new things. When something works, I'll always keep going back to it though.

I find my skin responds well to chopping and changing, because it seems to build up a tolerance to products really fast. But I (read: my wallet) can't justify buying new skincare products all the time, so i tend to just stick with whatever's in my bathroom at the time.

I might look into Lush Coalface though, I've heard nothing but good things about it :)
