Revlon PhotoReady has become a bit of a Marmite product I’ve noticed… Whilst some love it and hail it HG others hate it and I’ve seen it crop up on more blog sales than I’ve had hot dinners!
I find PhotoReady doesn’t give me the coverage I need, and I probobly wouldn’t use it on it’s own but being the genius I am I mixed it with ColorStay and the results are amazing! You get the coverage and lasting power with ColorStay and the blending ability and luminous effect of PhotoReady WITHOUT that dreaded ‘Cullen effect’!
ColorStay on the left with a blob of PhotoReady
Mixed together (this is maybe a tad more then I would use but you get the picture!)
I have been wearing this combo non stop and love it, my skin is flawless, radiant and Revlon products never break me out so my skin is also pretty clear at the moment.
If you have a bottle of PhotoReady laying around that is getting no love try mixing it up, I’m sure you will LOVE the result =)
Anyone else already tried this….?

Now I think I’m in the minority here, but I didn’t like this one bit. Not one. Little. Bit.
A little bit about my skin – oily, large pores, hormonal spots, blotchy… Basically disgusting, and needs at least a medium coverage base at all times. I can forget anything that reads ‘glowy’, ’sheer’ or ‘natural’ – my face needs the concrete texture of Revlon ColorStay to look decent!
I bought this to use as an everyday base, now the weathers getting a bit warmer I don’t really want to wear such a thick foundation but need the coverage and something to keep the grease at bay, cue the much loved MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation…
”Studio Fix is a powder and foundation in one that combines good coverage with ease of application.” = FAIL
Good coverage? I tried using this with the puff provided and got the gorgeous, cakey mottled look. Lovely. You try building up coverage and your in cake city, urgh. I tried it with my ELF flat top kabuki, it blended well but gave virtually NO coverage and when I tried to add more it didn’t seem to make a difference, it just kinda ‘pushed’ the bottom …

For a natural look I sure used alot of stuff!
I wanted to keep it simple, and focus on my skin more than anything. I love the HD powder, it really adds that finishing touch. As my skin is oily, I used the matifying powder first and just a quick dusting of the HD powder once I had applied everything else.
For my base I used the ELF Mineral Infused Primer then I used Revlon Colorstay foundation, applied with the ELF Studio flat top kabuki style powder brush, then I used the ELF concealer/highlighter duo under my eyes (I dabbed them both and blended) then I applied the ELF Studio Matifying powder all over using the sponge provided (shock horror!). Then I used the ELF Blush/Bronze duo to slighty contour, as this product is SOO pigmented I used a very light hand! I used my Ms Makeup blusher brush (its quite stiff, which I like for contouring)
For my eyes I primed my lids with the ELF Primer then curled my lashes with the ELF mechanical curler and I used 2 shades from the Sparkle Eyes Beauty Encyclopedia, using the mushroom colour all over my lid then just a touch of …
